Manager Graham Turner believes Shrewsbury could not have a tougher start to the season on the opening day of the League One campaign.
Drawn away to Leeds in the first round of the Capital One Cup last week, the Shrews will begin life in the third tier with a trip to last season's beaten play-off finalists Sheffield United.
Turner told the club's official website: "This is always an exciting day in the footballing calendar and to see our name in the npower League One fixtures is tremendous.
"It would have been nice to start the season with a home game but you can't really get a bigger test than Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. After going to Leeds United in the Capital One Cup, that's quite a start to the season.
"It doesn't get much tougher than that, but then we then have two home games at the Greenhous Meadow so that will give our supporters an early opportunity to see the team on our home pitch.
"We know all the games will be tough as it's a higher level but we're looking forward to the challenge. This is where the club have wanted to be for a long time and we are determined to do as well as we can."
