Veteran keeper Ian Bennett could yet experience life in the Championship with Huddersfield, who have released seven out-of-contract players.
The 40-year-old has been offered a new deal by the League One play-off final winners, with defender Tom Clarke, striker Alan Lee and young keeper Lloyd Allinson also entering contract talks at the Galpharm Stadium.
Furthermore, the Terriers are planning to discuss terms with on-loan midfielder Damien Johnson, who is now out of contract at parent club Plymouth.
Gary Naysmith, Gary Roberts, Danny Cadamarteri, Tommy Miller, Nathan Clarke, Aidan Chippendale and Simon Thomas have not been offered new deals and will leave the club.
Town boss Simon Grayson told the club's official website: "It's never easy, but we have to make big decisions to take Huddersfield Town forward.
"It would have been a different scenario had we stayed in League One but as a Championship club we have made these decisions on players."
