Walsall manager Dean Smith is hoping to hang on to Emmanuel Ledesma after he scored twice in a vital 3-2 win over Chesterfield.
In half-a-dozen matches since returning to England and rejoining the Saddlers, the skilful 23-year-old has hit four goals and helped the team climb out of the relegation zone.
Smith, whose side pushed Chesterfield closer to relegation, said: "I shall be talking to Emmy and his agent, but obviously we hope he will stay. He scored two fantastic goals.
"We were average, but I said to the players before the game the result was more important than the performance.
"Give Chesterfield credit they kept throwing things forward and their strikers Jordan Bowery and Craig Westcarr caused our defence problems."
