Dean Holdsworth admitted Aldershot's League Two play-off hopes had probably evaporated with the 2-1 home defeat to Port Vale on Friday.
Louis Dodds' double sealed the points for Vale, with Wilko Risser's late effort a consolation at The Rec.
Holdsworth said: "I always thought it was going to be tight with the teams and players we've got.
"We've lost a few players in the last few weeks but I've got faith in the people we've got here to keep playing and making sure we got maximum points next time out.
"It's disappointing that our fantastic run of form has come to an end. It just felt a little bit flat. We couldn't get a spark and credit to Port Vale they have some very good players and they took their chances.
"We've had the better chances on the day, four very clear-cut chances, and not taken them which is what I'm really disappointed about."
