Hearts boss Paulo Sergio is to hold face-to-face talks with the club's hierarchy next week in order to discover if he will have the tools to fulfil his ambition and stay at Tynecastle.

The Scottish Cup-winning boss wants to remain in Edinburgh but is concerned about budget cuts at a time when owner Vladimir Romanov is still attempting to sell the club.

Hearts have already allowed the influential Ian Black to leave as a free agent and Sergio is worried others could follow.

The troubled club, who have endured a season of financial difficulties, including delayed wages, want to keep the former Sporting boss and director Sergejus Fedotovas has confirmed this stance.

However, Sergio wants to know what the future holds, as he is quoted as saying in the Daily Record: "We will have a meeting early next week where everything will be settled. I want to stay. I like the club and the city and the owners of the club also want to keep me.

"But I am concerned about being able to build a team with the planned budget reductions. I am worried about whether we can establish the objectives I want to achieve.

"Ideally, this should all have been sorted and I would be able to prepare pre-season. I must adapt but the situation is not ideal."

When speaking at the Hearts AGM, Fedotovas reiterated the desire to keep Sergio at the club.

He said: "The board sees it as priority No.1 to resolve the situation with the manager. We want to keep Paulo Sergio.

"We brought him in at the start of the season to achieve success and results.

"This has materialised and we are looking to continue the work and partnership with him."

One player who Hearts hope will not be leaving is Rudi Skacel, despite the two-goal cup final hero suggesting he is set for the exit.

Fedotovas said: "Any supporter wants to see the best players and we will do all we can to make this possible. The board has no objections to keeping Rudi."
