BLUES ACTIVATE MURPHY TWO-YEAR OPTION
David Murphy will remain at Birmingham City after the club activated a two-year option on his contract.
The left-back would have been available on a free transfer this summer, but Chris Hughton has moved to keep the 28-year-old at St Andrews.
Murphy began the season as back-up to Liam Ridgewell, but reclaimed the position in November after Ridgewell was sidelined through injury.
The club have stated that discussions with Irish duo Stephen Carr and Colin Doyle, both of whom are out of contract, are 'ongoing'.
However, Caleb Folan and Hughton's son Cian have both been released at the end of their short-term deals.
Enric Valles, Ashley Sammons and Luke Hubbins have also been told they can leave the club.
