LAMPARD BACKING FOR HODGSON
Frank Lampard has backed the appointment of Roy Hodgson as England manager.
Chelsea midfielder Lampard, whose uncle Harry Redknapp was the favourite to succeed Fabio Capello, declared Hodgson had all the experience needed to be a success in the job.
Lampard, 33, was hoping to impress Hodgson in the closing weeks of the season and seal a place in the West Brom boss' European Championship squad.
"It's a very good appointment," Lampard said.
"He is a very experienced manager - with international experience and club football experience.
"He seems a very educated man and completely fits the role very well.
"Ideally if I put in the good performances before the end of the season and be involved in the squad then he would be the sort of manager you would love to work with."
