St Etienne kept alive their hopes of Europa League qualification with a 1-0 win over Ligue 1 strugglers Dijon.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the only goal at the end of the first half as ASSE boosted their chances of a top-four finish.
Dijon, however, are facing a battle of a different kind with the club just one point above the bottom three with four matches remaining.
The home side were almost gifted the opening goal after 20 minutes when a poor clearance from defender Samuel Souprayen let in Max Gradel.
However, with only Baptiste Reynet to beat, the midfielder saw his effort deflected away by the goalkeeper's thigh.
Reynet came to the rescue again two minutes later with a stunning finger-tip save on to the crossbar to keep out a fierce drive from Bakary Sako.
But St Etienne made the breakthrough three minutes before the interval through Aubameyang, who made the most of an excellent delivery from Josuha Guilavogui before finding a way past Reynet.
The home side continued to dominate after the interval and Aubameyang had the chance to add another after 47 minutes by somehow missed an empty net having lured Reynet out of his goal.
Laurent Batlles then teed up Sako for an attempt, but the midfielder directed his shot over the bar.
Alejandro Alonso had the home side's next effort but curled his shot over the target, while a stoppage-time strike from the same player fell wide of the right post as St Etienne failed to add to their tally.
