HONOURS EVEN AT DE GOFFERT
Two goals in the space of as many second-half minutes ensured mid-table pair NEC Nijmegen and RKC Waalwijk shared a 1-1 draw at De Goffert.
The result means both sides can still qualify for the Europa League play-offs by finishing eighth, but neither got the victory that would have really bolstered their hopes.
NEC substitute Melvin Platje gave his side the lead in the 58th minute, only for the equaliser to come almost immediately through Rick ten Voorde.
It was a match low on real quality, with neither side possessing the requisite skill or application to take the game by the scruff of the neck.
NEC managed an early attempt after only two minutes, Krisztian Vadocz finding Navarone Foor, who shot wide from 15 yards.
Almost half an hour was on the clock by the time another opportunity presented itself, Lasse Schone finding Kevin Conboy six yards out only for Jeroen Zoet to be left with an easy save.
RKC, to their discredit, did not manage a single noteworthy shot in the opening 45 minutes.
Their first of the match came in the 53rd minute. Jeff Stans and Ard van Peppen combined to create the opening, with Mitchell Schet's header caught by Gabor Babos.
Babos was required again shortly afterwards when Krisztian Nemeth tried his luck from 25 yards.
NEC's first chance of the half resulted in the opening goal, Platje touching the ball over the line from close range after Vadocz's initial shot.
Their lead was extinguished inside two minutes, Ten Voorde collecting Sander Duits' pass deep in the NEC half and charging down on goal before beating the onrushing Babos with a neat finish.
RKC did most to win the game in the last 20 minutes, but could not find the net again.
Van Peppen drew a decent save from Babos following Schet's clever pass and Nemeth failed to hit the target with just the keeper to beat.
