Simon Gillett says he wants to help relegated Doncaster Rovers back into the Championship at the first attempt.
The midfielder, who played in all of Rovers' nine games during March, is one of several players out of contract this summer, but has not become disillusioned by the club's demotion.
"I'd like to still be here next season," he told the Sheffield Star.
"I'm sure that the club could get straight out of League One if we can keep the core of the side together.
"At the end of the day it all comes down to what budget the club have got."
Rovers boss Dean Saunders has been told to slash the wage bill at the Keepmoat, ahead of next season.
