Hamburg coach Thorsten Fink abandoned Wednesday's training session after just one hour because too many players were getting injured.
Five players picked up knocks in the session, defender Jeffrey Bruma seemingly the most serious as he was taken back to the changing room on a golf buggy after suffering a blow to the knee.
Gojko Kacar, Robert Tesche, David Jarolim and Mladen Petric also picked up injuries on Wednesday morning.
"The risk of injury has become too high for me," Fink was quoted as saying by Hamburg's official website.
Hamburg are not yet safe from relegation from the Bundesliga. They are five points above the bottom three with three games to go.
