Neill Byrne will be hoping to keep his place in Rochdale's starting line-up.

The Irishman replaced his compatriot Kevin Long for the 5-2 defeat to Sheffield United in midweek and looks set to continue in a match which will see Dale relegated from League One if they lose.

Long, on loan from Burnley, aggravated his Achilles tendon in the previous match against Yeovil, failed to recover for the Blades clash and will be assessed ahead of this one.

Midfielder Simon Hackney has been sidelined with a lower abdominal injury since joining from Colchester in the summer but recently returned to training.

However, after such a long period out of the side he is unlikely to taste first-team action this season.

Exeter welcome back strikers Jamie Cureton and Lauri Dalla Valle.

On-loan Cureton missed the 3-0 victory over parent club Leyton Orient on Easter Monday as he was barred from playing due to the terms of the agreement reached with the O's, while Dalla Valle was unavailable after picking up a minor knock in training the day before the game - but both return to face Dale.

However, manager Paul Tisdale has limited options in defence as the Grecians continue their quest to beat the drop.

Scot Bennett and Danny Coles are joined on the sidelines by defensive colleagues Jonathan Fortune, who is still struggling with a hamstring problem, and Richard Duffy (groin).
