Fleetwood's promotion to the Football League remains on hold after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Lincoln at Highbury Stadium.
The Cod Army missed a chance to clinch the Blue Square Bet Premier title after a 1-1 draw with Wrexham on Tuesday night and they suffered further frustration on Friday.
Lincoln, buoyant after their 5-0 thrashing of Darlington on Easter Monday, stunned the leaders by surging 2-0 in front inside 20 minutes.
Jamie Taylor found the bottom corner after being teed up by Jefferson Louis in the eighth minute and the latter doubled his side's advantage with a header from John Nutter's cross.
Jamie Vardy pulled a goal back on the stroke of half-time with a close-range finish from Andy Mangan's cross for his 33rd goal of the season.
Fleetwood then levelled four minutes into the second half in fortuitous circumstances. Vardy chased down a through ball and Lincoln keeper Joe Anyon beat him to it only for his kick to ricochet off the striker and into the net.
Vardy was then denied a winner, which would have started a title party, when Anyon produced a brilliant save deep into stoppage time.
