Caen defender Jeremy Sorbon has called for double the effort from his side ahead of Sunday's Ligue 1 clash against Bordeaux.
While the Girondins are sitting comfortably in eighth place in the overall standings, Caen are in bottom three and in need of a vital win at home.
With only eight games remaining, Sorbon believes four wins will be good enough to ensure top-flight survival in a congested bottom half of the table, where 11th-placed Valenciennes are only four points ahead of the Normandy-based side.
"Things are clear: we have eight cup finals to play to ensure survival," Sorbon told the club's official website.
"You do not need to look at our league position. What interests us is us - this is how we will behave in the field.
"We will be at 200 per cent and fight until the end. The most important thing is to take the points.
"Four wins, that should be enough but the main thing is to not rely on others and forget that it is up to us."
Bordeaux striker Yoan Gouffran expects an emotional return to his former club due to their precarious league position.
Gouffran, who left Caen for Bordeaux in 2008, admitted it was tough to see Franck Dumas's side so low down in the table.
"I'm disappointed because I still have strong ties with the club," Gouffran said.
"It surprises me that Caen are in 18th place because I could not imagine that this team would be there.
"When we played Caen in the first game (in November) they were firmly settled in mid-table.
"I regularly watch Caen's matches and it would be nice for them to win again, but not until next week."
