AC Milan striker Alexandre Pato is set to miss the rest of the season with a muscle injury.
The Brazil international suffered his latest setback in Tuesday's 3-1 defeat at Barcelona in the Champions League.
Injuries have limited the 22-year-old to just 11 Serie A appearances for the Rossoneri this season.
A statement from the club on Thursday read: "AC Milan announce Alexandre Pato today has undergone an MRI that has revealed a muscle lesion in his left thigh.
"Pato will undergo further medical tests in 10 to 15 days' time."
Milan have tried to find a solution to Pato's ongoing injury problems. Only last week the South American travelled to the United States to have specific treatment on his left thigh.
"He has been all over, from Germany to America, in a bid to resolve his fragile muscles," Milan doctor Jean Pierre Meersseman said to Gazzetta dello Sport.
"Pato was declared fit on 13 occasions, but evidently he wasn't healed.
"When I saw on the TV that he was injured I felt bad. I wasn't expecting it to go like that.
"His season is over. We will have to start again when he has healed."
Milan lead the Serie A standings and host Fiorentina on Saturday.
