MELLOR MAY MISS OWLS RETURN
Returning striker Neil Mellor will be assessed ahead of Preston's trip to Sheffield Wednesday.
Mellor made his first appearance since suffering a knee cartilage injury in December when he came on as a substitute in North End's 1-1 draw with Bury last weekend.
However, the former Liverpool man felt pain in his knee and was not risked when Brentford were 3-1 victors at Deepdale on Tuesday and may have to wait a while longer for his next action from the bench.
"He's okay, a little bit of swelling as you'd expect, but nothing significant," said boss Graham Westley.
"It's going to be a progressive thing and we're going to have to manage him sensibly."
Midfielder Barry Nicholson (hamstring) remains on the sidelines, but Danny Mayor is battling to return from a muscular strain.
Wednesday defender Danny Batth is hoping to return to contention.
Batth, on a season-long loan from Wolves, had been an ever-present for the Owls this season before missing last week's win at Leyton Orient with a hamstring strain.
Another loanee, Blackpool's Miguel Llera, stepped in for Batth and was impressive alongside Rob Jones, so manager Dave Jones may have a selection dilemma.
Jones, who has no new injury or suspension worries, is expected to retain Jermaine Johnson on the left wing and Michail Antonio, on loan from Reading, on the right.
Jones must decide whether to start with on-loan pair Keith Treacy and Nile Ranger on the substitutes' bench again, with Gary Madine and Chris O'Grady starting up front, while striker Ryan Lowe is also pushing for a place in the starting line-up.
