Sochaux striker Modibo Maiga hopes his side can take a big step towards Ligue 1 safety when they meet fellow strugglers Brest on Saturday.
The Montbeliard club currently sit second bottom of the table, but victory on Saturday would draw them level with their opponents, who go into the match in 16th.
Maiga told www.fcsochaux.fr: "This is a major match because they are direct rivals in the fight for survival and a win would allow us to go back to level on points with them.
"But in our situation, all matches are important. We recognise that we must play each game to our maximum."
Maiga, who scored Sochaux's goal in their 2-1 defeat by Lyon last time out, will have a different strike partner after Edouard Butin picked up a knee injury against Les Gones.
Butin, who is replaced in the squad by King Osanga, joins Jeremie Brechet, Damien Perquis, Steven Mouyokolo, Pierrick Cros, Mathieu Peybernes, Yassin Mikari, Serdar Gurler and Cedric Bakambu on a lengthy injury list.
Maiga said: "The injury to Edward made me feel very bad. He was playing well and was being rewarded for his efforts. It's a shame for him and for the whole team. We are all punished.
"But it is the whole team's responsibility to get a good result. Together we can work this out. It is not one person who changes the game, but the effort of a whole group."
Brest have lost their last three matches and also have injury problems, with Larsen Toure (pelvis), Gregory Lorenzi (calf), Brahim Ferradj (knee), Jonathan Ayite (thigh), Dialo Guidileye (knee) and Abel Khaled (ankle) all out.
