Rennes defender Kader Mangane has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after coach Frederic Antonetti revealed he will undergo surgery on his left ankle later this week.
Mangane damaged his ankle ligaments in a Europa League match against Udinese in September and, although he has since returned to action, he is still experiencing pain and will go under the knife in Lyon on Thursday to remove a piece of cartilage.
The news was announced at a press conference to preview Wednesday's Coupe de France clash with Valenciennes, while a club statement later added: "Before leaving for Valenciennes to play quarter-finals of the Coupe de France, Frederic Antonetti has confirmed the end of the season for Kader Mangane."
Mangane, 28, is expected to be out of action for around two months.
Meanwhile, Rennes have confirmed midfielder Vincent Pajot has been ruled out for a month with a torn hamstring suffered in Sunday's 1-0 league defeat to Toulouse.
