Otto Rehhagel makes his return to the Bundesliga after almost 12 years away when the 73-year-old takes charge of Hertha Berlin for the first time against Augsburg on Saturday.
The man who led Kaiserslautern to the historic feat of winning the Bundesliga as a newly-promoted team has returned to the club where his playing career started in the 1960s.
And he hopes his experience can help Hertha avoid relegation.
His first challenge is to halt a run of five straight league defeats in Saturday's trip to Augsburg.
"When you are young, you don't really realise everything which is going on around you 100%, but that is what I am here for," he told Kicker magazine.
"I don't want my players to get stage fright, I want them to stay up.
"I have a treasure trove full of experience and the players need to delve in."
Rehhagel wants to take a backseat role and let his players take the limelight.
"I don't want a personality show," he said. "I don't have to be in the papers - everybody knows enough about me anyway.
"I am not coaching the media, I am coaching the team."
Defeat against their relegation rivals in Bavaria would drop Hertha into the bottom three, while Kaiserslautern could climb out of danger with a win in Mainz.
Freiburg will be looking to build on their 0-0 draw with Bayern Munich last weekend when they travel to Stuttgart for a local derby.
Bayern not only need to bounce back from that disappointment, but also from the 1-0 defeat to Basle in the Champions League in midweek when they host Schalke on Sunday.
"We need to work hard to get out of the mess that we have played ourselves into," Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said following defeat in Switzerland.
Bayern currently trail league leaders Borussia Dortmund by four points and they would fall the same distance behind Borussia Monchengladbach if Lucien Favre's side continue their excellent form by beating Hamburg tomorrow night.
Dortmund are last in action this weekend when they host Hannover.
Elsewhere, Cologne and Bayer Leverkusen meet in a derby with the pressure mounting of respective coaches Stale Solbakken and Robin Dutt.
Wolfsburg host Hoffenheim and Werder Bremen welcome Nurnberg.
