Manchester City beat Porto 4-0 on the night, 6-1 on aggregate, to cruise into the Europa League last 16 at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.
City were already well placed after their 2-1 win at the Estadio do Dragao, and made their position even stronger within 20 seconds as Yaya Toure's precise pass played in Sergio Aguero, whose smart finish across the keeper nestled into the bottom corner.
The home side were always in control from that point, but had to wait for further breakthroughs.
When they came, though, they came in a flurry as Edin Dzeko, David Silva and David Pizarro with his first City goal added gloss to the scoreline.
Porto were reduced to 10 men when Rolando saw red in the aftermath of Dzeko's goal.
After the match, City boss Roberto Mancini confirmed Carlos Tevez could be considered for selection in "two or three weeks" and said of the victory over Porto: "It is not easy to beat Porto, they are one of the top teams in Europe and I am happy that we are going to the next stage."
City next face Sporting Lisbon or Legia Warsaw. They clash in Lisbon on Thursday night after a 2-2 draw in the first leg.
