Emmanuel Riviere's scrappy first-half strike earned Toulouse a narrow Ligue 1-0 victory over Caen at the Stadium Municipal on Saturday evening.
The France Under-21 forward netted the game's only goal 10 minutes before half-time following a scramble in the visitors' box.
The result kept TFC in contention for Europa League qualification and left Caen only one point clear of the relegation zone.
It was the hosts who started the brighter, Daniel Congre rising highest in the 18th minute only to direct his header narrowly wide.
Etienne Didot linked up with Franck Tabanou six minutes later before shooting inches over the bar.
Caen's first chance of note arrived courtesy of a free-kick just before the half hour mark, but Faycal Fajr's effort flew straight at Toulouse goalkeeper Ali Ahamada.
The decisive goal arrived at the other end soon after, Riviere eventually swooping on the loose ball and firing past Caen keeper Alexis Thebaux from close range.
The lowly visitors came out for the second half seemingly determined to get back on level terms and mustered the better of the second-half chances, but were unable to find a way past Ahamada.
Frederic Bulot latched onto a pass from Benjamin Nivet soon after the restart but could only shoot into the side-netting, with Livio Nabab's diving header three minutes later drifting just wide.
Nivet's attempt from the edge of the box also went close, but Ahamada got down well to divert it out for a corner.
Aurelien Montaroup then tried his luck from 15 yards but lashed over the bar as Caen continued to push but got no reward and left empty-handed.
