Eredivisie strugglers De Graafschap were left to rue their luck as they left NAC Breda with a point.
The visitors took a surprise lead through Michael de Leeuw after eight minutes, but found themselves pegged back four minutes later courtesy of Anthony Lurling's strike.
Thereafter it was De Graafschap who had the better chances but they hit the woodwork twice and found NAC keeper Jelle ten Rouwelaar in good form.
The crowd at the Rat Verlegh Stadion were stunned when De Graafschap took the lead after eight minutes, De Leeuw getting on the end of Nenad Sreckovic's cross from the left and heading home from five yards.
But the hosts were back on terms in the 12th minute when , after good work down the left, Alex Schalk found Lurling who used his strength before firing into the bottom corner.
De Leeuw had the chance to add a second four minutes later but he headed a corner from the left right against the post.
NAC were twice grateful to Ten Rouwelaar as he kept his side on level terms going into the break, first saving when Ziguy Badibanga was through one on one, then denying Jan-Paul Saeijs in a similar situation.
De Graafschap were forced to accept it was not their day when Rydell Poepon struck a free-kick against the bar in the 64th minute.
NAC had a good chance of their own to take all three points three minutes from the end but Yves De Winter produced a good save from Jens Janse's effort.
