Midfielder Barry Robson will return to the Middlesbrough squad for Tuesday night's npower Championship trip to Ipswich.
The 33-year-old Scotland international has missed the last three games through suspension following his sending-off against Leeds, and the Teessiders have taken just two of the nine points on offer in his absence.
Faris Haroun continues to work his way back from a hamstring problem, but it unlikely to be involved at Portman Road.
Striker Scott McDonald has returned to training after medial ligament damage, but is still some way short of match fitness.
Utility man Rhys Williams is also on the mend, although his ankle ligament injury remains in plaster for around another week, and he could be back in action a fortnight after that is removed.
Grant Leadbitter and Jason Scotland are back in contention for Ipswich.
Influential midfielder Leadbitter missed Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Watford due to a one-match suspension following his sending off against Burnley.
Manager Paul Jewell told Town's official website: "Grant has been playing really well lately and he'll start against Middlesbrough."
Striker Scotland, meanwhile, has missed both the 1-0 victory over Burnley and the loss at Watford with an adductor strain.
Jewell added: "Jason is okay. He's been working with the physio over the last few days and trained with the first team this morning (Monday). He's had no reaction so far and if it stays that way he will be in contention."
Nathan Ellington (calf) also missed out at the weekend and it remains to be seen whether he will be available, although the forward has not featured for Town since mid-January.
